Ogun State Government says it will not condone
begging and destitution along the major roads
across the state.
Director, rehabilitation services of the state
ministry of women affairs and social
development, Mr. Kehinde Egbeoluwa gave the
warning during the evacuation of some beggars
at Ibara roundabout, Abeokuta.
Mr Egbeoluwa who expressed concern over such
activities said that the agency swing into action
due to the increasing number of beggars and
destitutes along the major roads in the State
Capital.
He advised the people with challenges requiring
Government’s assistance to approach the
rehabilitation services department.
The director announced that Government had
empowered some beggars earlier apprehended
warning that Government would not hesitate to
prosecute anyone found wanting.
One of the beggars, Mr. Oladipupo Taiwo
popularly called “Chidioke promised never to
return to begging and expressed determination to
embrace Government’s assistance.
